Completely agree. Biden and Trump are two sides of the same coin. And as you say, the Dems are the more effective evil, because the left lets them do whatever they want because they think they have no choice. The Dems talk in longer sentences and with better vocabulary but where it counts they do the same or worse. I'd rather have a Republican in office because at least then people get up in arms and protest! As to Bernie, AOC, etc, they are a bit better on domestic policy but virtually the same on imperialistic foreign policy. What we need is a general strike to bring the whole power structure down and start from scratch with policies that end empire, dismantle the military, center the working class, and ensure we have a healthy world for future generations to thrive in!

Thank you, and keep up the great work. Love your columns!

Time is running out on that general strike, I'm afraid. The recent wave of unionization is a good sign, but union leaders all too often get behind the Democrats. The rhetoric and gaslighting from the DNC is going to get all the more intense over the next two weeks as we come up to midterms.

As always, thanks for reading!

You're certainly right about the general strike--no time to organize it on short notice. I was speaking more generally about how to take down the corrupt US power structure.

The Railway unions could do it if their leadership had the spine to stand up to the Biden regime. There's still a chance of a strike, but they've postponed it so many times now I don't have much hope for that.

Yes, "oting blue will not stop fascism. To defeat fascism, it makes no sense to support a party that enables fascism at home and funds fascism abroad. "

And the D's are not only enabling fascism by adhering to neoliberal (and neocon) policies that keep the working class angry enough to support actual fascists. They're incrementally letting fascist creep advance in our legal systems. They support increasing control over information via increased propaganda and censorship of dissenting voices, and more draconian measures to enforce this silencing and neutralizing of dissent. Those are clear indications of growing fascism - and they're happening with the blessing of the neoliberal elites within the D.P.

Yes, absolutely, I ran out of room (there's a word limit for emails) to include all the ways they have enabled fascism. I recommend this article I co-authored with Erin McCarley in 2020:

https://dissidentvoice.org/2020/10/the-assistance-not-the-resistance/

Nothing has really changed since the Democrats took power, they are still enabling GOP policies. Some of the greatest attacks on civil liberties have occurred under Democrats. It's a uniparty system.

THEY DON’T HAVE POWER -that’s the point‼️

They do in fact have power. They have the executive branch and both the Congress and Senate.

Seriously ⁉️ I hardly think Manchin & Sinema have given them a majority! We need to elect 6 senators & take as much of the house as possible! Mitch has been in charge of the courts for years! That’s not having power!

We KNOW all that! But, this is our ONE LAST CHANCE to set precedents & GIVE THE PROGRESSIVES & young people a CHANCE‼️

It’s our ONLY choice in Roevember ‼️

Of course you’re right about the 2 parties, neoliberalism etc etc. BUT, if after 7 years of trump insanity, to think this clueless country is ready for a peace party--you’re wrong! We’ve got a LONG way to go to get to that point, if ever! Let’s go back to wealthy white men & puritans coming here to rape & pillage the Natives (still happening) & then buying slaves to help them get richer! We’ve always has an arrogant country, based on racism, classism, sexism et.al. I’ve been an environmentalist & civil rights activist since the ‘60s & greed [Powell Doctrine; trickle-down; Teabaggers; Court/ states rights take over etc.] and not much has changed in 50 years--oh, except for the Court now taking away women’s rights over their own bodies after we fought for Roe! The ERA is only accepted by 38 states & could have finally been made an Amendment in January 2020, except the trump/Barr mindset made sure that wouldn’t happen ! If you aren’t a woman, you DO NOT completely understand how horrific this is in 2022! You can bitch about Bernie & Our Revolution all you want--but we HAVE come a long way in 7 years. All we can do right now! Bernie had no choice but to keep doing what he can--and the country is ripe for Unions (Debs is one of his heroes & you don’t think he’s read that quote!? if we can expand Progressives in number, they will have more power to keep working on change & w/what we’re up against in Roevember, we have NO CHOICE but to get rid of the ignorant, uneducated GOP! I taught in the Barrio/Inner city for 40 years because I wanted to give back & I questioned authority the whole time! I KNOW what people living in poverty deal with & I sure as hell didn’t do it for the money. Enough is definitely enough & the Media is not our friend. Do we need people like you giving us the truth ? YES! But I don’t see you giving us any immediate solutions!

IT’S TOO LATE TO SAY DON’T VOTE BLUE--it’s our ONLY choice right now & this is the most important election in my lifetime!

I’ll consider you a a “wage slave” when you’ve actually lived in poverty & done menial jobs just to pay rent & buy food.... good luck 🍀

I do live in poverty and am currently dog sitting to make any income at all this month other than the small amount I make from this newsletter.

We do have a choice and that choice is to walk away from the Democratic party, because they support the GOP. They have donated over 40 million dollars to GOP candidates this election cycle.

I recommend you read this excellent article by Erin McCarley on why we need to Roe Roe Roe our votes away from the Democratic Party: https://realprogressives.org/reproductive-rights-and-the-fight-against-fascism/

I HAVE read it and we ARE walking away from the Democratic Party ( I’m DSA), but we won’t even be able to START doing that until these midterms give us massive numbers of progressives—bottom up! IT IS CRUCIAL TO JUST GET THESE QANON WHACKOS OUT OF OFFICE, as well as the 147 Congress people who didn’t vote to certify the 2020 election!

Read Michael Moore’s Truths of why we need to do this! And, I’m sorry, but if you’re dog sitting (not in the ghetto), you have NO idea what poverty is —sometimes brilliant arrogance just doesn’t work in emergencies….

How much do you make per year? It seems odd to be attacking me for not being poor enough for your standards.

How much do YOU make?

I’m a retired teacher, who sacrificed all my adult life to make sure I have a place to live in my 70s! Your a spoiled American.

Bernie didn’t give you what you wanted in 5 years, so your’e done ✅ I’ve followed him in Congress to 40 years & he’s the ONLY politician who ANSWERS THE QUESTIONS‼️ Hey—it’s YOUR planet 🌍 now—and I’ve cared about it my whole life about it (& have no kids of my own to worry about)—so, just keep flip flopping & get some REAL LIFE experience before you think just being well educated & read is all you need , and once again GOOD LUCK 🍀

I have plenty of real life experience, thank you. I make less than the federal poverty line by quite a bit. I doubt I will ever be able to have a place to live by my 70s, so you're fortunate in that way. I'm not a spoiled American by any means, I'm an autistic worker who is barely getting by in this economy, but thanks for making unnecessary assumptions about me because you disagree with my political views.
