My friend, "support communism" is a step or bridge way too far for most; and furthermore, even for those who may support it ideologically, there is no clear path.
While I do think any of us concerned with the problems to which you point must put far more energy and capital into developing grassroots movement(s) instead of pretending that electoral politics will be sufficient, I wish more of us would give the concerned better election guidance than to merely point out how bad the establishment's duopoly is. As a realist, I realize that the odds aren't great that Jill Stein will win the Presidency. Yet it behooves us to give the needed support and encouragement to movements and Parties that share our values, interests and positions in opposition to imperialism and war and continuing climate destabilization, etc., and which have been trying to build a broader movement for some time. One may dislike that the Greens are not members of the Communist Party or SWP or the like, or are not attacking capitalism itself, but if we don't build broad socio-political movements all we are doing is barking at the moon.
I have had long life, I tried with all I had, I failed. Even at grassroots level, they have rigged most efforts to fail. There is hidden covert dark forces at work. I published a reader/handbook in 1992, so idealistic. Saw so many great initiatives just get crushed.
Perhaps we've had similar experiences in this. Long life; much of it active - as activist, leader, organizer. Along the way, a few victories (environmental), some making a difference. A number of unsuccessful attempts to build org's conceived with the notion of building grassroots power and institutionalizing it and any gains won. Always running into the same problem: the impatience of some; the inability to see the long game; a surfeit of ego where deeper consciousness was needed instead; and of course, a system rigged against any such effort. Concentrated private capital always controlling or holding too much sway in both electoral and policy politics.
After all that time and seemingly wasted effort, I'm perhaps a bit more cynical but, despite the discouraging trend lines (as to ecological collapse, imperialism & war, the looming (or has it already begun?) collapse of the Washington/Wall St.-centered Empire, and everything related to these conditions, and my understanding of the psychological/developmental lacks of much of the population, I still choose to retain seeds of hope. For as I discovered many decades ago, giving in to total despair was not an option for me.
1992 I literally put my all into publishing the Bible of Hope, then after 2 arson fires, and endless rivalries, rise of neoliberalism, PNAC, never-ending wars, I was convinced McCarthyism and Cold War in its new Neocon/Neolib clothes was never going to die. I gave up hope a long time ago. Nonetheless, while I am still on this godless plane, what battle is still worth fighting even if it hopeless? I often think of those who died at the end of that movie THE MISSION. That comes close. I live in small coastal community, a place where I thought there would be greater compassion and support, only to find the opposite. It does not take many lies from a few psychopaths to receive the great shunning.
Thanks for calling out the role of the military and war in environmental destruction. I took a dive into that topic earlier this year and you might appreciate it:

"Combatting the climate crisis" is how the Malthusians wish to keep the population down
We will UNLEASH the forces of production, we will produce MORE energy, we will produce MORE C02
Long live the Working Class! Down with the Malthusian fabian society!
