Last year, the Biden administration bragged that the price of a 4th of July BBQ was down by 16 cents.
Their do nothing administration had not managed to pass any meaningful legislation or relief for the working class during a global pandemic, so a 16 cent savings was the best they could do.
They aren’t talking about the cost of that BBQ today. In 2021, the average cost was $59.50. Today it is $69.68, a total of $10.18 more expensive or a 17% increase. Even with the massive savings of 16 cents from last year added in, that’s still a $10.02 net loss.
No wonder that Biden’s approval ratings hit a new low of 39% average, with a June 25-28 YouGov poll putting him at 36%. In that same poll, 77% said the country is heading off on the wrong track. A whopping 94% said that inflation was either very important (74%) or somewhat important (20%) to them.
It’s the economy, stupid was the slogan that Bill Clinton advisor James Carville came up with in 1992 and helped lead to Clinton’s victory. Unfortunately that was just a slogan as Clinton was more interested in saving the economy for the rich than making it work for the people. Biden doesn’t even have that slogan. Socialists and communists have always known that it’s the economy. Friedrich Engels was much more elegant than James Carville when he wrote in Socialism: Utopian and Scientific:
The materialist conception of history starts from the proposition that the production of the means to support human life and, next to production, the exchange of things produced, is the basis of all social structure; that in every society that has appeared in history, the manner in which wealth is distributed and society divided into classes or orders is dependent upon what is produced, how it is produced, and how the products are exchanged. From this point of view, the final causes of all social changes and political revolutions are to be sought, not in men's brains, not in men's better insights into eternal truth and justice, but in changes in the modes of production and exchange. They are to be sought, not in the philosophy, but in the economics of each particular epoch.
That is the essence of historical materialism. It’s the economy, stupid. The Democratic party has lost touch with even that simple slogan. Their new slogan is now “It’s Russia’s fault and you’re stupid.”
You heard it from the president. Russia, Russia, Russia.
Well, Mr. President, you need to stop blaming others and do your job.
Oops, that tweet aged about as well at the 16 cent savings on our 4th of July BBQ.
Happy Independence Day! Enjoy your wage slavery, peasants. Things aren’t going to get better until we seize the means of production. The Revolution of 1776 was a counter revolution that only served rich white male land owners and not much has changed. Only a socialist revolution is capable of solving the inherent contradictions of the capitalist system.
The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win.
Working Men of All Countries, Unite!
Yes indeed. The rumor is that he will bow out of 24, leaving it wide open for Kamala vs Hellary.
This is why I'm already pushing for Katie Porter.
