I hope you all had a good settler-colonial genocide celebration weekend. I was busy working and took the week off from Reasonable Movies, but I’m back with a great recommendation this week - Warren Beatty’s Reds. This epic movie (it’s over 3 hours) tells the tale of journalist John Reed, who wrote one of the best accounts of the 1917 Russian Revolution in his Ten Days That Shook the World and Louise Bryant who also covered the revolution in a series of articles released as Six Red Months in Russia. It’s amazing that this film was ever made, considering the anti-communist propaganda in the US and Hollywood’s usual imperialistic slant.
Reds is available to watch on HBO MAX.
