Congresswoman Ilhan Omar was proud to welcome Biden to her state of Minnesota on his propaganda tour. Here she is touting Biden’s infrastructure bill and thanking him for his “bold” climate action. She was so proud that she even took a selfie with the president.
There would be nothing wrong with this if Biden were actually doing something significant to address climate change. However, Biden is exacerbating the crisis, not addressing it.
This is even more disappointing considering that this is Minnesota, the site of Enbridge Line 3, a massive pipeline project that Biden has endorsed. Indigenous peoples have been leading the protests against Enbridge Line 3 for years. Here is Anishinaabe activist and climate leader Tara Houska who has been fighting Line for over eight years:
The environmental impact of Line 3 will be devastating. It crosses over 200 lakes and wetlands including the Mississippi river twice. An oil spill would destroy these fragile environments and poison the waters. There are 20 wild rice lakes on Ojibwe land within one mile of Line 3. The additional oil transported through Line 3 is the equivalent of the total CO2 daily emissions of 16- 18 million cars, every year the pipeline operates.
And this local environmental is completely ignored by Ilhan Omar when she welcomes Biden to Minnesota. Biden has also approved the Willow project in Alaska. According to the Washington Post, “Burning Willow’s oil would also put into the atmosphere an estimated 239 million metric tons of carbon dioxide during the project’s 30-year lifetime — or the equivalent of driving 1.7 million gasoline-powered cars a year.”
Biden also just recently auctioned off 73 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico for offshore drilling. This auction was a part of the provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act that Ilhan Omar supported and Biden is promoting on this tour.
This bill is not a climate bill. It contains poison pills like the requirement to auction off federal lands for oil and gas exploitation. I talked about these poison pills here:
As I quoted from Forbes:
In addition, at least 2 million acres of federal lands (or, if less, at least half the acreage for which expressions of interest have been submitted from potential bidders) must have been offered for oil and gas leases in the year before each proposed wind or solar right of way is issued. In practice, assuming sufficient expressions of interest are received by BLM, that means at least 20 million acres of federal lands must be offered in total for new oil and gas leases over ten years on a quarterly basis.
When Ilhan Omar welcomes Biden and touts his climate plan, this is pure gaslighting. Biden is not a pro climate president and has not followed the science. The latest IPCC report says:
Climate change is a threat to human well-being and planetary health (very high confidence). There is a rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all (very high confidence). Climate resilient development integrates adaptation and mitigation to advance sustainable development for all, and is enabled by increased international cooperation including improved access to adequate financial resources, particularly for vulnerable regions, sectors and groups, and inclusive governance and coordinated policies (high confidence). The choices and actions implemented in this decade will have impacts now and for thousands of years (high confidence).
This means climate action must be taken now. Biden is doing just the opposite when he approves new oil and gas drilling projects like the Willow Project and pipelines like Enbridge Line 3. Yet Ilhan Omar does not call him out on these things, but praises him. The liveability of the future is at stake here, Biden must be strongly opposed if future generations are to have any hope. The threat of climate change is being ignored by the elites as they continue to ramp up oil and gas production in pursuit of profit and Biden, Ilhan Omar, and the Democratic Party are enabling that at the cost of our future.
Thank you, Birrion, I agree completely. It's hard to know at this point what can be done about the two greatest threats to all life, including all human life--environmental destruction and nuclear war--with sociopaths like Biden (and the rest of the two sides of the same coin Uniparty) and enablers like the Squad doing everything they can to directly lead us into both of these hazards. We are headed right for the cliff. What we need is an uprising like the one going on in France but much, MUCH more vigorous, however Americans have been nearly completely brainwashed by mainstream propaganda into believing that there is no better way than the (suicidal) American way, so what is there to protest? Unfortunately I'm pretty despairing of a way out at this point.
