Note: I already had this movie lined up before the Netflix walk out. If you’re boycotting Netflix in solidarity, by all means, keep it up. With an IATSE strike still a possibility, I may be switching to more public domain older films or putting the Reasonable Movies section of this substack on pause for a bit. I’ll have to see what events warrant. Anyway, here’s this week’s movie recommendation.
Captain Fantastic is a fun tale of an anarchist family and their journey back into civilization. While sometimes it tries to find too much of a middle ground between the left and the right, it generally portrays the leftists in a more positive light. There are some great critiques of capitalism and some genuinely hilarious moments.
